Ms Sandhu undertook the vast majority of her postgraduate ophthalmic training at King’s College Hospital (London) and Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge) acquiring general and specialist ophthalmological experience.
She obtained her postgraduate doctorate (MD) at University of London evaluating ocular blood flow in retinal disease, in particular age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
She complemented her postgraduate clinical training by completing a Fellowship in Medical Retina and Uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital, an eye hospital of international acclaim.
She specialises in cataract surgery without the need for wearing glasses and has been a co-investigator for a randomised controlled clinical trial comparing multifocal, accommodative and monofocal intraocular lenses. She has a special interest in cataract surgery in patients with diabetes and uveitis.
One of her areas of expertise involves the use of the latest intravitreal therapies including Lucentis, Eylea, Avastin, Ozurdex, Illuvien and Jetrea for a wide spectrum of retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vein occlusions. She has also been a sub-investigator for the international GENEVA Study Group for the use of Ozurdex implant for central and branch retinal vein occlusions. She continually evaluates emerging, evidence based novel treatment therapies for retinal disease, aspiring to achieve the best for her patients.
She has presented at both national and international conferences and published in peer reviewed journals. She has co-authored a chapter on Ocular Disease in an Optometry textbook.

Personal Profile
Ms Sandhu is married with two teenage boys. She likes to travel. She is a keen runner and has participated in the London Half Marathon two years ago. She enjoys cycling, swimming, hiking, trekking and gardening. She has a passion for interior design and handmade soft furnishings, a hobby demonstrating an expression of her creativity outside of her work.
